Sensor Development Engineer BGE R&D (m/f/d) in Zug

Für unseren Kunden Roche Diagnostics International AG mit Sitz in Rotkreuz suchen wir einen Sensor Development Engineer BGE R&D (m/f/d)

Hintergrund:

We are looking for a team-oriented, inquisitive and self-reliant person for our BGE (Blood Gas & Electrolytes) Sensor Development Team.
Our Team «BGE Sensors & Electrodes» develops, characterizes and optimizes different electrochemical sensors for medical devices in the area of IVD diagnostics. In particular, we are interested in the parameters of gases (O2 & CO2), electrolytes (pH, Na+, K+, Ca2+ & Cl-) and metabolites (Glucose & Lactate) in whole blood.
To be able to deliver the desired instruments for hospitals and testing laboratories, we utilize electrochemical, optical and enzymatic measuring principles. We develop these methods for the analysis of whole blood by understanding the theoretical bases and use this to develop new sensors. Furthermore, we support the series production with technical expertise and address any issues with our existing products.

The perfect candidate has a higher technical education and the first experiences in a technical field. Additionally, the person is interested and has experience in testing and optimizing complex technical systems. Also, the candidate has experience in an (electro)chemical laboratory environment and with various physical and chemical analysis techniques. Lastly, the person communicates fluently in English and proficiently in German or vice versa.

Hauptaufgaben und Verantwortungsbereiche:
* Supporting the Sensor Development Team in various development activities, such as characterizing sensors (with various physical and chemical analysis methods), testing the function of the electrochemical and optical sensors in complex test setups and helping in the production of thel sensors (e.g. material preparation for the production)
* A main focus will be the maintenance and improvement of our „sensor test setups“. These setups are complex fluidic test systems that allow the parallel testing of our electrochemical and optical sensors. This can involve, among other things:
* Designing and testing measurement workflows that are used to test the sensors
* Testing and improving these workflows and performing root cause analysis if issues are found, e.g. electrochemical raw signal analysis, testing of influence factors that can disturb the signals (electronic issues (shielding,…), temperature or pressure effects, etc.)
* Discuss and propose HW and SW updates that might be required to improve the performance of the sensor test setups
* Independently plan, execute and evaluate experiments and document your work within the framework of our development processes
* Taking responsibility for equipment and help to develop new tools, methods and processes to evaluate our sensors performance in the test setups
* Supporting the team with scientific expertise and practical knowledge to understand and solve various technical questions that arise in development and in testing of our complex sensors
* Additionally, supporting the development teams of our metabolic and ion sensitive sensors:
* Analytical analysis of produced sensors or chemicals (e.g. microscopy, profilometry,…)
* Supporting the electrochemical measurements of the sensors and help to improve the measurement infrastructure), data analysis and documentation

Must Haves:
* A higher technical education (Bachelor/Master) from a technical university or Fachhochschule in a relevant technical field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Microtechnology / Biomedical Engineering / Physics / …) and first experiences in the industry
* Interest and/or experience in testing and optimizing complex technical systems (including fluidic, electronic, SW and mechanical aspects)
* An analytical and inquiring personality that can analyze and comprehend complex technical issues fast and finds a way to optimize and improve such issues
* Ideally experience in an (electro)chemical laboratory environment and with various physical and chemical analysis techniques and – as a plus – some experience with electrochemical methods
* Experience in working in and contributing to multidisciplinary development teams from varied fields with diverse backgrounds
* Able to document the results at a high technical level, can actively report data, results, ideas and achievements and understands how to work in a highly regulated environment
* Open, flexible, team-oriented and take ownership
* Ability to communicate in German and English (one must be fluent, the other proficient)
